The Nobel Peace Prize Forum is sponsored annually and hosted on a rotating basis by five ELCA colleges of Norwegian heritage in the Upper Midwest and presented in cooperation with the Norwegian Nobel Institute, Oslo, Norway.
Crisis Management Initiative (CMI)
Crisis Management Initiative (CMI) is an independent, non-profit organization that innovatively promotes and works for sustainable security. CMI works to strengthen the capacity of the international community in comprehensive crisis management and conflict resolution. CMI's work builds on wide stakeholder networks. It combines analysis, action and advocacy. CMI was founded in 2000 by its Chairman President Martti Ahtisaari. The headquarters of the organization are in Helsinki, Finland.
The Oslo Center for Peace and Human Rights
The Oslo Center for Peace and Human Rights was established as an independent foundation in August 2006. The Oslo Center's work is related to three main areas: human rights, democracy, and inter-religious and intercultural dialogue. The Oslo Center works through contact and dialogue with policy makers, organizations, and key actors in Norway and internationally.
Women Peace and Security Network Africa (WIPSEN-Africa)
WIPSEN-Africa has four broad strategic objectives that define the parameters for its operations:
1. Provide a platform for women across all levels of African societies to exchange, share, and harmonize strategies for women's leadership and build coalitions to promote peace and security in Africa.
2. Strengthen women’s capacities to sustain their active engagement in conflict prevention, peacebuilding, peace support operations, and human security at policy, research, and praxis levels.
3. Promote the twin approach of mainstreaming gender in peace and security mechanisms and institutions while at the same time mainstreaming peace and security in all gender mechanisms, policies, and institutions.
4. Influence policy development and implementation on women, peace and security in Africa through rigorous research, strategic advocacy, and documentation.

The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)
The eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) – which range from halving extreme poverty to halting the spread of HIV/AIDS and providing universal primary education, all by the target date of 2015 – form a blueprint agreed to by all the world’s countries and all the world’s leading development institutions. International Decade for a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence for the Children of the World (2001–10)
Year 2000 was a starting point for a major mobilization as it was the International Year for the Culture of Peace (UN Resolution A /RES/52/15). On this special occasion, a global movement for a culture of peace was initiated by the United Nations to create a "grand alliance" of existing movements that unites all those already working for a culture of peace in its eight domains of action. This movement is now growing with the International Decade for a Culture of Peace and Non-violence for the Children of the World (2001-10).
Minnesota Department of Human Rights
The Minnesota Department of Human Rights (MDHR) is a neutral state agency that investigates charges of illegal discrimination, ensures that businesses seeking state contracts are in compliance with equal opportunity requirements, and strives to eliminate discrimination by educating Minnesotans about their rights and responsibilities under the state Human Rights Act. MDHR’s mission is to make Minnesota discrimination free. Its values are quality, timeliness, efficiency service, fairness, and respect.
In cooperation with the Norwegian Nobel Institute, five Midwestern colleges of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America sponsor the annual Nobel Peace Prize Forum. This prestigious event is the Norwegian Nobel Institute's only such program or academic affiliation outside Norway. MORE >>
